The Arrival 03:52
2.
Consolation 06:24
Did you see the news today? When did things get this way? Can't trust your fellow man at all And as things fall apart Don't it just break your heart? These are the days before the fall But if it's any consolation Things were always this way Always at each other's throats Only hitting sour notes The gap between us grows and grows and grows Can't agree to disagree Too much at stake to ever cede So round and round it goes and goes and goes But if it's any consolation Things were always this way Yeah if it's any consolation We were always this way But if it's any consolation Things were always this way And if it's any consolation We were always this way There's never any consolation Yeah we don't get a consolation Why is there never consolation?
3.
Why do you think you're so special Deserving of all the applause and all god's love? Why do you think we all love you As if you were touched by an angel from heaven above? Why do you think you're still breathing? Did you think it was all of the good works you've done on this earth? Why do you think we're still listening? Do you think that your glory is really as much you're worth? Well hold the applause Yeah hold the applause Why do you think this is happening Do you think you're the star of a story of your very own? Why do you think it's all ending Leaving you hopeless and hapless and all on your own? Well hold the applause Yeah hold the applause
4.
The Last One 05:24
When you're on your own And you're all alone You are the last one When there's nothing left And you're so bereft You pulled a fast one Could have had it all But you built a wall Left without a goodbye Everybody asked If you were coming back But it was all a big lie Gave you one more chance To judge me in advance But we left it half done So that was my mistake Gave you a chance to take And that was the last one
5.
Coda 02:12
6.
Think about the poor lost souls Who never get to hear what you know How do they go about their lives? Benighted, beaten and blue Until they catch a glimpse of you Now suddenly you've opened up their eyes How do you do it? I'm sure you'll tell us all some day How did we get along Without hearing your special song? How did we ever get this far? Here you come all shining bright To teach all of us wrong from right You'll never know how right you are How do you do it? I'm sure you'll tell us all some day Two steps forward, one step back And then you're back on the attack But we know you'll save us in the end You've come to light our way To make sure everything's OK I wish that we could see you as a friend How do you do it? I’m sure you'll tell us all some day
7.
So you've decided that you're bought into the lie No need to look too deep, no need to question why The answer's just a dream away There's no tomorrow when you're living for today This is the choice you always make This fragile thing you love to break We suffer, bound up in your fate Both paying for your big mistake Consequence is not a word that you hold dear You shift the blame and claim you had no choice but fear Somebody's got to stop the train If not for you the whole damn world would go insane This is the choice you always make This special thing you love to take We suffer, bound up in your fate We're paying for your big mistake
8.
Go On 03:53
Sometimes I can't help but feel Like this is all unreal Like this is just a dream gone wrong Some days I feel like I could stay Live another day When I should really be long gone Go on Some way Maybe it's all OK It'll just go away Then we can all get back to life In time We'll see that we're just fine If we just close our eyes And we don't try to fight Go on I know they'll never come for me So hey I see that it's too late I should have seized the day And let my voice rise high Don't cry There's always next time To stand up and fight But for now, goodbye Go on
9.
All We Know 05:01
Somebody told me The way it goes is all we know Don't bother looking Won't find another way Somebody knows me No matter how I hide my face Somebody shows me The way to lead the way And all we know is That you're up there and we're down here And all we know is Don't let it slip away Somebody found me And set me straight, I tried to wait But somebody bound me To tell the world the way What if I told you That all you need is in your reach Just come and tell me What else lies in the way And all we know is That you're up there and we're down here And all we know is Don't let it slip away And all we know is That deep inside we hold our lies And all we know is They'll steal it all away
10.
Without You 03:56
Without you It's too late To pretend It's been great Without you There's only The dark things That I see Without you There's only The end of My story Without you We can't breathe But somehow We don't see Without you No seasons We must have Our reasons Why would you go? Why would you stay? Without you
11.
These Fears 05:40
Do I sound like I'm OK? Have I earned the right to play? Did I seize enough today? Are we better off alone? Can't be trusted on our own Are we beaten to the bone? Help me Help me Everything's gone Help me Help me Everything's wrong All these fears I've realized Come to look me in the eyes Tell me all their pretty lies So concerned with being right Almost given up the fight First the dying, then the light Help me Help me Everything's gone Help me Help me Everything's wrong

about

From the appropriately titled lead-off track The Arrival, it is obvious this is a band more mature than their release count would suggest. A winding journey through their various styles and influences, Volume 1 introduces the Archivists as a band that is both meandering and focused. Unpredictable and following ideas where they lead, the album is at times brutally heavy and at others soft and embracing. Tracks like The Arrival, Consolation, and Your Big Mistake refuse to be taken lightly as they rumble and soar with energy, contrasting tracks like The Last One, Hold the Applause, and These Fears that find the duo's varied musical influences shining through, from alt-rock to industrial to grunge to prog.

Both an art project and a band, The Archivists is a collaboration between long-time friends and hobby musicians Jordan Hirsch and Adam Mitchell. The unknown duo are ready to step into the light with a home grown and self-produced debut album that proves their time in the shadows was spent honing their craft.

Volume 1 is more than the sum of its parts, heralding the introduction of a new musical force to be reckoned with. Adam and Jordan are excited to welcome you to… The Archive.

about

The Archivists

Inhabiting The Archive, not much is known about the Archivists themselves.

At the direction of two central figures, the Archivists pull from their extensive musical references and influences to craft something completely new and utterly compelling.

As much a high-concept art project as a band, The Archivists are a long-distance collaboration between the humans Jordan Hirsch and Adam Mitchell.
